2008 NFL Picks: Final Results from Dwayne Bryant
My final 2008 NFL picks record was 50-42 for 54.4% winners. It was a profitable season, but it was a little below my norm for an NFL season. It was, however, good enough to rank 6th in Units Won at sports-bettors.com.
Football is by far my favorite sport, so this long offseason feels like forever to me. I’m already looking forward to producing more winners this coming fall. I’ll be hitting the hardwood and the diamonds until then. Get my Best Bets by clicking here.
BCS Championship Pick Results 1/9/09
It feels good to end my best-ever season of college football picks with a win. My loyal clients and I cashed in last night when Florida beat Oklahoma, 24-14, to claim the BCS National Championship.
I ended the college football season with an incredible 39-16 record. That was good for #2 in Units Won at www.sports-bettors.com and the 71% winning percentage was #1 among all college football handicappers.
I’m already looking forward to next season.
NBA Best Bet 02/20/09
As part of my “10 Best Bets per Week Plan,” here was tonight’s only play:
9 pm ET – Oklahoma City Thunder at Phoenix Suns UNDER 233
I see a lot of value in this total line, thanks to Phoenix’s ridiculous offensive numbers in their last two games since Alvin Gentry took over the helm.
In those two games, the Suns hung 140 and 142 points on the Clippers. In Tuesday’s meeting in Phoenix, the Suns shot [Read more...]
NCAA Basketball Best Bets 02/21/09
As part of my “10 Best Bets per Week Plan,” here were my two Best Bets from today:
3:30 pm ET – North Carolina -12 at Maryland
Since beating Duke handily in Cameron, North Carolina has played two lackluster games. They were both single-digit wins and both lost ATS. They are due to [Read more...]
World Series Game 5 – Phillies vs. Rays
Tonight could very well be the last game of the 2008 MLB season. Although I believe the Phillies will win tonight, I do not see any value in laying -175 in this game.
The Rays are a great team or they wouldn’t have made it this far. And Scott Kazmir can shut down any lineup. So the value lies with the Rays, but I cannot play them because I believe Cole Hamels and the Phillies will wrap things up tonight.
The total is set at 7.5, but I’ll pass. Every handicapper has areas where they struggle and I am not a great baseball totals capper. Believe me, it pays to know one’s limits.
Terrell Owens Released by Dallas Cowboys: Addition by Subtraction?
The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly released wide receiver Terrell Owens. Should we be surprised? After all, look at all the controversy centered around Owens last season. He reportedly had problems with quarterback Tony Romo, tight end Jason Witten and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.
The Cowboys were one of the most [Read more...]
Gruesome Video: Houston WR Edwards Breaks Leg
Tuesday night’s college football game on ESPN2 between Houston and Marshall was the scene for a very disturbing and unfortunate accident. Houston wide receiver Patrick Edwards suffered a compound fracture of his leg midway through the third quarter. He ran to the left corner of the end zone trying to catch a pass, but then collided full speed with metal carts placed beyond the back of the end zone. This video is pretty gruesome and definitely not for the faint of heart. [Read more...]
Lakers to Win 2008-09 NBA Title?
The Los Angeles Lakers are making a statement. The Lakers just completed a perfect 6-0 Eastern road trip, which included wins at Boston (110-109 in OT) and Cleveland (101-91).
If that doesn’t make a statement, then I don’t know what does. LA looks to be an attractive bet to win it all this summer. Kobe and company look to be the best in the West and could very well be the best team in the entire league after those two impressive road wins on national TV.
Pittsburgh – Connecticut Betting Preview 02/16/09
Big East powers collide tonight when Pittsburgh (23-2 SU, 12-6-1 ATS), formerly the #1-ranked team in the nation, visits Connecticut (24-1 SU, 10-9 ATS), the current #1 team in the country. This game on ESPN will go a long way in determining a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Much will be made about [Read more...]
Philadelphia Phillies Are World Champions
It took nearly two full days, but the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, 4-3, in Game 5 to become the World Series champions. Brad Lidge closed out his perfect season by striking out pinch hitter Eric Hinske for the final out. And the celebration was on.
The Phillies were undefeated at Citizens Bank Park in the post season. Young lefty starter Cole Hamels was [Read more...]
