 Motivation plays a big role in sports, especially in these college games. Oklahoma will be playing with plenty of motivation this afternoon when they host Texas at the Lloyd Noble Center. First, the Sooners will be looking to protect their undefeated home record, and they’ll be doing so on national TV (ESPN). Second, Wayman Tisdale’s life and playing career will be celebrated at the game. Tisdale is the Sooner’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder. He passed away last May from cancer. “He’s a big part of what we do,” head coach Jeff Capel said. “He’s the guy that made Oklahoma basketball.” Think emotions will be high today for the Sooners?

I also like the fact that Oklahoma has had a full week off to rest up and get ready for this showdown. “My body feels refreshed and my legs are ready to go,” freshman guard Tommy Mason-Griffin said. “At the Nebraska game I was a little fatigued, but I’m back now.” The Sooners know how to step up at home when playing a better opponent, as they are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a home underdog.

Texas comes into this one having lost three of their last five, but they did win their last game by 12 at Oklahoma State. That makes this the perfect look-ahead spot for Texas, as they have a HUGE home showdown with Kansas up next in just two days. The Longhorns are just 2-4 on the road this season, and they’re a pathetic 2-10-1 ATS in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
