Since opening my new guaranteed picks site back in April, I’ve struggled with what I wanted to do with my original site, www.bullseye-sports.com.  I didn’t really want to shut it down.  It was the site that started me in the sports handicapping business back in July of 2000.  Call me sentimental, but I just couldn’t get myself to walk away from it.

So, a few months ago, after making the final decision to keep bullseye-sports.com open, I had to decide in what direction I wanted to go with the site.  I’ve tried several different business models over the past 11+ years.  I like the idea of having guaranteed picks & rewarding clients for sticking with me, and my new site has that covered.

The other avenue, which coincides with my beliefs, is to have a site that tries to move bettors away from the short-term mindset (buying daily packages, chasing short-term streaks, buying pick titles like “Game of the Year,” etc.) and try to teach them that long-term thinking is how to make money at sports betting.

There are many ways I could accomplish this.  One thing I wanted to make sure of is that I made this affordable for virtually all bettors.  Since I don’t count on pick sales to pay my living expenses, there’s no reason to charge anywhere near what the average pro handicapper charges.  Having a much lower price will help keep even smaller bettors on the long-term path.

I decided that the best way to accomplish what I wanted is to have bullseye-sports.com be a monthly subscription site.  “Monthly” meaning the only package is a $55 monthly all-sports all-picks package (no daily packages; no individual sport packages; no ridiculous marketing hype).  “Subscription” meaning a client is automatically charged every month, so you only have to go through the short checkout process once.  And you’re free to cancel at any time just by sending me an email.

By only charging $55 per month, I’m basically taking what would be a $660 yearly fee and breaking it into low monthly payments.  Like I said, you’re free to cancel at any time.  $55 doesn’t even get you a weekend package for most cappers, and won’t get you a week of service for 99% of pro cappers.

I’m hoping that the low price, basically just a tip at less than $2 per day, helps keep bettors on board for the long haul.  Every capper goes through losing streaks and I know it’s difficult for many to stick with a capper that charges a ton and has been going through a rough patch.  Many times, a bettor will jump ship right before that capper gets hot again.  That mistake ruins many a bettor (well, that and following long-term losers).  I hope the low price helps clients break that habit.

Convenience.  I want my clients to be able to get my picks as conveniently as possible.  My picks will be posted on the Members page, should a client choose to visit the site and login.  The picks will also be emailed to all clients.  Many clients these days can check their email on their cell phones, so you won’t have to keep logging in all day to keep checking if picks have been released yet.

I’m also offering to send the picks via text message.  This is optional, however.  A client wishing to receive picks via text message only has to email me with the number they want the picks sent to.  Again, clients don’t have to keep checking the web site with this option.

An extremely low price from a proven long-term winner, combined with complete convenience of receiving the picks.  That should make it much easier for clients to get on and stay on the long-term road to profitable sports betting.

I’m extremely happy to have bullseye-sports.com open again.  I’m hoping to help many bettors profit in 2012 and beyond.

As of today (Sunday, April 24, 2011), my handicapping service has officially moved. I no longer sell picks here at www.bullseye-sports.com. I’m all about improving my service, and the move to my new site, www.NFLcollegeFootballPicksPlus.com accomplishes that on several levels.

I will still be offering sports betting picks in NFL & college football, NBA, and MLB at www.NFLcollegeFootballPicksPlus.com.  However, the new site provides new features and a very important change in my business model.

In an industry full of liars and thieves, there are actually a few of us who run our services the RIGHT WAY. This includes being truthful in our promotional material, providing ANY AND ALL records in a clear, easy-to-understand format, and conducting ourselves with honesty and integrity.

I’m sure many of you have visited handicapping sites where either no records are found at all, the records are false, requests for records are either ignored or met with double-talk, or short-term streaks are the only thing found. Let’s face it, anyone can flip a coin to pick games, get on a hot little streak, and all of a sudden market themselves as the next great handicapper.

That irritates me to no end. Despite what many would lead you to believe, LONG-TERM records are ALL that matter. Does it really matter if I made you 10 Units of profit this month if I’ve lost you 50 Units on the year?  Of course not.  Being in the black at the end of the YEAR is what it’s all about.

People coming to any handicapping site should be able to find long-term records for ALL handicappers on that site.  That is one reason why I like the move to www.NFLcollegeFootballPicksPlus.com.  The company who built the new site has a system that provides site visitors with a picks history database, which is searchable by specific dates and/or sports.  Here’s the link: www.NFLcollegefootballpicksplus.com/picks-history.cfm. The results of any query will show record, win percentage, and money won based on $100 wagers.  This database includes every pick ever made on the site.

The dollar amount will not be accurate (at least for now) because their system doesn’t take into account my 1-2-3 rating system.  Since they operate a network of handicapping sites, they have it set up this way so cappers on multi-capper sites can’t abuse a rating system to increase sales.  I understand that, but I’m hoping they’ll be able to change that in the near future.

NFLcollegefootballpicksplus.com also gives me the opportunity to offer daily packages, which are automatically removed from the site several minutes before the picked games start.  I would’ve had to do that manually at Bullseye Sports, and it just wasn’t possible because I can’t be on the computer at the right time every day to manually remove the daily packages.  While I still believe that buying the longest-term package possible is the most cost-effective way (biggest savings) to follow a handicapper, I didn’t forget about those of you who requested daily packages.

But the thing I like the most about www.NFLcollegefootballpicksplus.com is that EVERY package that is purchased is backed by a 110% GUARANTEE.  Before I get into the details of the Guarantee, I have to say this: I’ve heard so many handicappers trash the Guaranteed Picks concept.  Well, that garbage usually comes from guys who lose more often than not, so they’d never make any money.  But isn’t that how it’s supposed to be?

Well, as I said,  EVERY package that is purchased is backed by a 110% GUARANTEE.  So, if you buy today’s daily package, I put 10% of the package price back into your buyer’s account to use on a future purchase.  This 10% is called Loyalty Dollars.  So, if today’s package costs $20, $2 in Loyalty Dollars would immediately go back into your buyer’s account.  Same thing applies for weekly, monthly, and season packages.

The Loyalty Dollars are my way of giving you incentive to stick with me and to help you avoid the biggest mistake many people make.  Too many pick buyers fall into the trap of jumping from capper to capper, trying to ride the hot hand.  It never works.  Does buying high and selling low produce a profit in the stock market?  Of course not.  Well, the same is true in the world of sports betting.

Wait.  It gets better.  If the package you purchase loses, I also put 100% of that package’s price back into your buyer’s account.  So, if you buy my daily package for $20 and the package loses, I put an additional $20 in Loyalty Dollars back into your buyer’s account.  Same thing applies for weekly, monthly, and season packages.  So, if today’s $20 package lost, I’d put a total of $22 (initial 10% or $2 + 100% of the package price, which is $20) back into your buyer’s account. 

I know this doesn’t replace money already spent and lost, but it does help reduce the damage AND give you a chance to possibly get a winning package FREE.  I realize that Guaranteed Picks doesn’t mean a whole lot when the capper is a long-term loser.  But I have a documented history of long-term winning in the four sports I offer (Go to www.sports-bettors.com/Details.php3?uid=3414 and change the “From” date to 1/1/08; That will show you my long-term records in each sport since I started being monitored there), so I really feel that this 110% Guarantee system is a great benefit to my clients.

In the interest of full disclosure: If you want to use Loyalty Dollars, you must have enough Loyalty Dollars to cover the entire cost of the package.  So, if a package costs $20 and you only have $10 in Loyalty Dollars, then you cannot use the Loyalty Dollars.  Maybe at some point the company will change that set up, but that’s how it works as of now.

Also, packages that are received using Loyalty Dollars do not earn additional Loyalty Dollars.  Only packages that are purchased earn Loyalty Dollars.

I’ve been doing some serious thinking over the last few weeks, and recent results have helped me finally come to a decision.

In this business, most cappers sell picks in every major sport.  The problem is, I haven’t found one capper that consistently wins in every sport year after year.  Each of us has at least one sport in which we do not have long-term success.

I’d like you to do something that will only take a minute and it will help illustrate my point.

As you can see, I have long-term winning records in each sport except one: college basketball.  College basketball has always been my Achilles heel.

I spent the last two college hoops seasons putting more of an emphasis on it, but to no avail.  All that did was take my focus off the NBA, causing my NBA success to suffer as well.

So, I’ve decided that I will no longer bet/cap/sell college basketball.  I will stick to the sports in which I have a proven record of long-term success: NFL, college football, MLB, and NBA.

Cutting college hoops will only strengthen our bottom line from year to year.  And that’s all that matters to me.

Most cappers continue to sell picks in sports in which they KNOW they have losing long-term records, simply because sales is priority #1 for them.

Yes, I’m in business to make money, too.  But sales is NOT my #1 priority.  Providing a WINNING long-term service for YOU is my top priority.  If you have a winning long-term service, the sales will take care of themselves.

YOU, my loyal client, come first.  College basketball will no longer cut into our profits at the end of each year.

Very disappointing Wednesday.  Dropped a 1-Unit NBA play on Utah -5, as they got embarrassed on their home floor by Atlanta.  Tough scheduling spot for the Hawks, but they more than rose to the challenge.  Absolutely horrible call on my part.

Also took a 2-Unit loss in CBB with Penn State +6.5, as they just could not hang with Purdue for the full 40 minutes as they did the last two times they met at the Bryce Jordan Center.

So an 0-2 day for -3.3 Units.  It sucks, but it happens.  We practice proper money management and we keep grinding away.

-1.1 Units on Tuesday.  Picked up another Unit in college hoops with Indiana +9 at Minnesota.  Our CBB record improves to 8-5 (62%) for +2.5 Units.

But we dropped 2 Units in the Sugar Bowl as Arkansas (+3, -105) lost to Ohio State, 31-26.  This is where most cappers on Arkansas are going to bitch about the kid falling on that blocked punt instead of running it 17 yards for the winning TD.  The truth of the matter is: Arky had MANY chances throughout the entire game and just did not execute well enough to win or cover.  And it’s not like Ohio State didn’t make their share of mistakes, too.  So, all in all, the game probably played out exactly how it should have.  We move on.

Picked up 2 Units in college hoops on Monday, thanks to 1-Unit wins on Northeastern +7.5 and St. John’s +2.  On a personal note, I’ve been a St. John’s fan since the days of Lou Carnesecca, Chris Mullin, Mark Jackson, Walter Berry, etc.  It was great to see them beat a highly ranked Georgetown team and win some money in the process.

Passed on the Orange Bowl.  Just didn’t have a good feel for that one.

RECAP

Split our two plays on Thursday.  Let me start with the losing play.  I can’t understand how Utah can go into Portland in a quick turn-around revenge spot and get drilled by the undermanned Blazers.  My “NBA radar” clearly needs some adjusting, as I’m obviously missing something here in the first half of the season.  Just can’t get a good hoops run going… yet.

We did cash another bowl game winner as Washington (+13.5) got the big upset win over mighty Nebraska, 19-7.  Just goes to show that sometimes motivation can overcome the talent gap.  That puts us at 3-1 on our last four bowl plays, with the three wins coming by a combined 81.5 points ATS.  Let’s continue to finish the college football season on a winning run.
